Jim died in 1966 in Vietnam. He was a US Marine. He was wounded on 9 August 1966 and succumbed to his wounds the next day, August 10, 1966. He was a victim of "friendly fire.'
I remember when the "traveling" version of the Vietnam Memorial came to a cemetary in Tacoma (Mountain View I believe) and I went out to see it. They had people reading off the names of each Washington Citizen who died in Vietnam. I remember hearing Jim's name read. Very sad moment.
