Comments:

I went to Bates right after high school, and became an LPN. I worked at Children's Hospital of Los Angeles, and Western State Hospital. I had the best career of my life as an at home mom for 10 years!! I volunteered many hours at Fawcett, Lister, Stewart, and then spent 10 years at Lincoln. I felt like an "Abe" for a long time. I returned to the work force in 1982 at Good Samaritan Hosp as a med nurse in the rehab unit. I started work at Group Health in 1985. I transferred to the Tacoma South Clinic to work in Pediatrics in 1987. I served on many Contract Negotiation Committees with SEIU 1199 NW. I served on several Labor Management teams and helped develop the LPN job description. I worked hard in all areas to try to make life better for the working folks. I received the South Region Nurse of the year award in 1991. I was privileged to have worked with Dr. Steven Berman, pediatrician for 22 years. I retired in Sept 09. I was married for 32 years, and found myself suddenly single. That was tough, but when one door closes, another opens. I married my old boyfriend Terry Elsdon (MT 64) in 2008. Terry retired from Pierce County years ago, and has shown me the "retirement" life. We enjoy our extended family and grandchildren, camping, and all travel, gardening, reading, and watching old movies!! We are checking off "Bucket List" items!! We recently had a new home built in Autumn Wood at Brooktree! It is perfect to now have "our" home. We love the yearly reunions for the all classes of the 60's.

School Story:

I really don't know what I did in school, except what I do now, try to make people laugh!! I got my letter in GAA, and was in Future Nurses club!! I really started to have fun that last couple of months of my senior year at "Sunnyside" I should have started a few years earlier. I cherish all my old friends that I have kept in contact with. I do remember the earthquake, when I hid under the desk in Mr. Cowling's class!! The Cuban Missile crisis caused us so much fear! I remember going to Cheney Stadium to see Kennedy and then just shortly thereafter we were all in tears when he was killed. I remember Mr. Rife always talking about "man's inhumanity to man" That is about all!!
